Report Phishing in Outlook
2019 | Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS)
Project Summary
This cybersecurity video was my first project for Minneapolis Public Schools. The script was a collaborative effort. From there, I developed storyboards for the subject matter expert (SME) to review and approve. Next I booked time in the studio to record my voiceover, created artwork within Illustrator and animated the video within After Effects. Being my first assignment as part of the Design & Training (D&T) team I underwent several periods of analysis and feedback from my fellow team members.
Project Details
Software: Illustrator and After Effects
Deliverables: Final video
Process Overview
Video Goals and Details:
Target audience is all MPS employees
Duration had to be 2 minutes or less
As a result from watching the video, staff should be able to (1) identify signs of phishing attempts and (2) know how to report phishing emails in Outlook.
Research: Research showed that some staff used the desktop version of Outlook while other staff used the online version. We would need to show how to use the report phish buttons for both versions to achieve the video goals.
Script: It took five versions for the script to be approved.
Storyboard: (Optional) Since we’d be talking about two different versions of Outlook, we decided to create a storyboard so that everyone was very clear on what we wanted to visually show. The storyboards were made AFTER the script was approved.
Prep Work: We agreed on which team member would be the voiceover talent. That individual practiced their lines.
Filming: Voiceover, and screen recordings were all captured.
Edits: Any voiceover fumblings or super long pauses in the screen recordings were edited out.
Feedback: Team members reviewed the video and gave constructive feedback.
Video Sharing: The video was shared with staff, and is also available online to be viewed at any time from The Source.
